Program Director, Every One Every Day Kjipuktuk-Halifax, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
Aimee Gasparetto is a community development professional with over fifteen years of experience developing community-based initiatives that promote health, challenge inequalities, and strengthen local economies. A primary focus of her work has been supporting regional and sustainable food system development with approaches that are grounded in community, collaboration and social innovation. She is passionate about cultivating systems leadership and change, with expertise in strategic program development and evaluation, partnership and coalition building, team leadership and facilitation. As co-lead of the Our Food Project, a seven-year provincial food initiative for Nova Scotia, Aimee worked on strategic policy and program initiatives aimed at creating a more just and sustainable food system in NS, including the establishment of the Halifax Food Policy Alliance and Halifax’s first Mobile Food Market. Currently, Aimee is the Program Director for Every One Every Day Kjipuktuk (EOED) at the Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre in Halifax. Inspired by the work of Participatory City in East London, UK, EOED is working to demonstrate how meaningful, resident-driven city life and learning, centered around useful, everyday activities, can transform people's lives and the neighbourhoods in which they live. It is a collaboration between residents, organizations and local government, that aims to centre reconciliation in the development of robust social infrastructure that is purpose built for social cohesion and inclusive participation in localized and circular economies. For the past 5 years, Aimee has also served on the Board of Directors at Nourish Nova Scotia, a provincial non-profit supporting healthy food environments for children and youth.
